Circa 1820’s – 1830 23mm coat button in fantastic condition with 100% gilt finish. Face shows in bright detail an eagle facing right, a lined spade-shaped shield on the left wing. Fouled anchor inside shield. Surrounding are thirteen 6-pointed stars, all on a lined background. One piece flat button, shank present. Backmark: WILLIAM (dot) WALLIS / (dot) EXTRA (dot) RICH rm between two rings. Wallis was from Birmingham, England; his marked buttons are believed to have been blank and re-used by U.S. manufacturers. [ld][ph:L]
