Troiani is arguably the best military artist around and has been for decades, uniquely combining artistic talent and historical accuracy from in-depth, impeccable research.
This is a professionally framed, signed and numbered print that depicts a Union battery being overrun by Confederate infantry at Chickamauga on September 19, 1863. A young, hatless color bearer leads his comrades over two brass Napoleon 12-pounders with dead and wounded Union soldiers in the foreground. Close behind the color bearer is a 1st lieutenant with upraised sword looking behind him to be sure his men are following. About a dozen charging, Rebel yelling, fist waving Confederates with bayonets fixed to their rifles, fill the background.
The print is in excellent condition, with great colors, archivally framed in a brown wood frame measuring 33 ¼” x 27 ½” and double matted in tan and light brown. Mat obscures artist signature and print number however the original certificate is with the print showing that it is number 727 of 950 made.
