This note features George Washington as the main vignette in front of “50.” A serial number has been handwritten in period correct red ink and reads “30317.” This note has been twice signed – once for the register and once for the treasurer.

This circulated note has two main fold lines on either side of President Washington and small nicks to the top and bottom edges terminate the folds. The top edge has been trimmed a bit too close and has cut off some of the flourish above the word “Confederate.” The paper of the note remains strong and is in stable condition.

Looking at the reverse makes the folds and chips more evident. Although these folds have created some weaknesses, it is still a great piece of early Confederate currency.   [cla][ph:L]
