Item Code: 213-112

Civil war bond issued by the Confederacy; by Act of August 19, 1861. Has a redemption date of July 1, 1879. The bond is dated in ink, December 19, 1862 and is hand numbered 1249. The center design is a vignette of R.M.T. Hunter, Secretary of State. Signed by Robert Tyler as Register of the Treasury. Printed by B. Duncan of Columbia, SC. At the bottom are 30 remaining interest coupons.

The bond has two folds and can easily be flattened. Paper is in good condition and all ink inscriptions are readable.  [jet] [ph:L]
