An original piece of Southern money, being the $5 bill from the State of Louisiana at Baton Rouge. Featuring a knight slaying another man, perhaps the South beating the North, and other detailed portraits in the corners. There is a “5” printed horizontally along bottom edge.

Dated October 10, 1862. Plate letter, J.  Serial number in ink, 9142. Vivid graphics printed in green on back. The printing is clear and the contrast good. No pin holes, no wrinkling, very fine condition. Centered with complete frame. A very nice Southern state bill.    [jet][ph:L]
