This is an authentic 1862 dated Confederate States of America $1.00 note. This is listed as T-55 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book.

Printed in black on front with blank back. Light pink tone to paper. Bill features a portrait of Clement Claiborne Clay, a Senator from Alabama. The note retains nice detail although light in contrast. Numbered (580) and signed in brown ink. Several pin holes, light wrinkling, and some light staining. Centered well.

It was issued from Richmond, Virginia and has the printed date of December 2, 1862. The note has a nice appearance. [jet] [ph:L]
