This unissued $1 Timber Cutter's Bank note is an obsolete bank note issued by The Timber Cutter's Bank in Savannah, Georgia. This specific bank operated in Savannah from about 1858 until it failed in the 1860s.

The center shows slaves harvesting tree pine resin. Dated February 14, 1862.

“THE TIMBER CUTTER'S BANK / WILL PAY ONE DOLLAR TO THE BEARER / ON DEMAND.”

Unsigned and unnumbered. “ONE” in red at bottom. Reverse is “blank” but with red ink bleed. Worn note with many pin holes.   [jet] [ph:L]
