Printed and signed one-hundred-dollar bill of the Confederate States of America. Interest-bearing notes were one form of currency issued by the Confederate government.

Offered here is the T-40, 1862 $100 note with "Six months after Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States / The CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA / Will pay / ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to Bearer with Interest at two cents per day / RICHMOND Sept 8, 1862” on the front.

It depicts milk maid at left, and locomotive with “defused steam” in center. Date and signatures in brown ink. Serial number (41771) in red ink. Printing: "J T Paterson & Co. Columbia, S. C."

Overall fine condition with only a few pin holes. Interest Paid stamps on reverse.  [jet] [ph:L]
