Original 1862 $10 Virginia Treasury Note. This note features a portrait of Governor John B. Floyd on the right side of the note, a shield with Thor’s image on the left side, and Prosperity seated with a cornucopia in the center. Left side (top & bottom) numeral 10 in circular motifs. Center has two large green Roman pocket numeral “X”, and two large green pocket “TEN”.
Reads, “VIRGINIA / TREASURY NOTE / RICHMOND Oct. 15th 1862 / THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA / Will pay to the bearer / on demand TEN DOLLARS at the Treasury.” Printed by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia S.C.
Condition is good and colorful overall, with light stains, wrinkling, and folds. [jet][ph:L]
