Original $5 note for the Terra Haute Alton & St. Louis Rail Road Company. Hand signed in brown ink, serial numbered (381) and dated (Jany 20, 1859) in red ink. Central graphic depicts woman holding a shield with bald eagle image, as passenger train runs behind her.

Condition is very fine with no pin holes, wrinkles, or folds. A fine example of railroad script.  [jet][ph:L]
