The manuscript details the settlement of a debt of $2000 debt. To wit: one James Litchford offers “one lot of ground in Raleigh…Bounded on the east by Harrington Street…Also Negro slaves: Mary, about 25 years old, & her three children Louisa 8, Maryann 6, & Emily 4, Amy about 45, and Jim , a cook, about 65 years old. Also all my household & kitchen furniture…” This “Property will be sold at public auction for Ready money…”
