Dated “Head Quarters McCall’s Division—Camp Pierpont, VA Nov 1, 1861.” Addressed to “Surgeon of 10th Regiment.” One page in ink on unlined paper, 7.75 x 9.75. Exhibits fold-marks, else VG.

Text:  Colonels of Regiment will require all men excused by the surgeon from duty under plea of sickness to remain in their company quarters or the limits of the Hospital grounds. They will not be permitted to leave the encampment on any pretext or to appear on regimental or brigade parades.

Men on sick list for more than two days will be taken to the Regimental Hospital; if hospital tents are insufficient for their accommodation, additional tents must be furnished for hospital use by the  Companies to which they belong.

Their diet and behavior during sickness must be under the supervision of the Regimental Surgeon. Colonels will not permit exceptions to these Regulations except on application of the Regimental Surgeon, which will be referred to the Brigade Surgeon for his information. Captains are directed to report all men that in their opinions are permanently unfit for duty, to the Colonels who will order their examination by the Regimental Surgeon, and have the requisite steps taken to obtain their discharge in cases of disability.

By order of Brig. Gen. Geo. A. McCall (signed) H.J. Biddle, Asst. Adj. Gen.
