Offered here are two discharge papers for Jacob Jerrard. The first is the discharge from his 1861 enlistment; the second is the 1865 discharge from his re-enlistment as a veteran volunteer.
Both documents are in good condition, with ink inscriptions still clear and very readable. Each has folds and shows light edge and corner wear.
Jerrard was born in 1836. He enlisted on September 25, 1861 into Company A, 95th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was present for duty in all their many engagements. He re-enlisted as a “Veteran Volunteer” on December 27, 1863 while at Brandy Station. He was mustered out with the regiment on July 17, 1865.
Two fine documents from a hard-fighting 6th Army Corps regiment. [jet] [ph:L]
