Sixteen-page issue that starts with an article on the launch of the steam frigate USS MERRIMAC which would later become the CSS VIRGINIA. Bottom of the front page shows the ship being launched at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Interior has stories about Suez with drawings of Majorca, Minorca and Ivica. Next, railroad bridges are discussed with drawings of two of them followed by a full-page drawing of the Independent Cadets of Boston doing bayonet drill on the Commons. The last page covers 4th of July celebrations in Boston with three drawings. There are also numerous other stories and incidents to be found inside.
Issue is complete and in good condition for its age with minor scattered foxing and light surface dirt. [ad] [ph:L]
