No. 288—Vol. XII. 16 pp. [17-32], 3 columns, w/numerous illustrations. Front cover features a large illustration of “The Bouqet Battery Commanding the Viaduct Over the Patapsco River, On the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Near the Relay House.” (General Butler had seized this position, commanding a number of railroad connections between Baltimore and Harper’s Ferry).

Internal illustrations include “The Encampment of Colonel Ellsworth’s New York Zouaves, ” and “Camp Cameron on Georgetown Heights, Near Washington—Quarters of the 7th Regiment N.Y.S.M.” Also the “Sleeping quarters of the Rhode Island Regiment, In the Patent Office In Washington, D.C.”. as well as a full page montage of “Views” over “The Long Bridge” into Virginia.

Slightly yellowed. Exhibits light chipping at the margin, and a few small interior tears. Else VG, and entirely legible. Solid Frank Leslie’s issue, as the Civil War begins. In protective sleeve w/white card backing.    [JP] [ph:L]
