Front cover features a large illustration of “The Bouqet Battery Commanding the Viaduct Over the Patapsco River, On the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Near the Relay House.” (General Butler had seized this position, commanding a number of railroad connections between Baltimore and Harper’s Ferry).

Internal illustrations include “The Encampment of Colonel Ellsworth’s New York Zouaves, ” and “Camp Cameron on Georgetown Heights, Near Washington—Quarters of the 7^th Regiment N.Y.S.M.” Also the “Sleeping quarters of the Rhode Island Regiment, In the Patent Office In Washington, D.C.”. as well as a full page montage of “Views” over “The Long Bridge” into Virginia.

Slightly yellowed. Exhibits light chipping at the margin, and a few small interior tears. Else VG, and entirely legible. Solid Frank Leslie’s issue, as the Civil War begins. In protective sleeve w/white card backing.    [JP] [ph:L]
