This Union occupation newsletter was published by the 6th U.S. Army Corps, on the press of the Danville Register.

Volume 1, number 6.  Dated “Danville, VA., May 3, 1865.” 2 pp., 18.25 x 12.5, five columns. Exhibits fold-marks, light chipping at the extremities. Else VG.

6th Corps Greek Cross, upper left margin. Front page contains text of Abraham Lincoln’s favorite poem—“Oh, Why should the spirit of mortal be proud?” Second page contains following headlines and stories—“Death of John Wilkes Booth”—“Pacification”—“Presentation of Captured Flags to the War Dept.”—“Flags Captured by Sixth Corps”—Free Trade With the South.”—“Paroled Rebel Officers Leaving the Country.”
