Also this snippet: “Mrs. Albani, the new operatic bird, says she is mot married, and would not even stand an engagement right.
Interior pages report San Francisco stock sales, along with the following items with a western flavor: “Death From Stabbing”—"Suicide at Chico”—“The Merced Tragedy”—“Serious Affray at San Jose”—“Two White Men Murdered by Piute Indians”—“Trotting Race in Oakland”—“Arrest of a Murderous Hoodlum”—along with numerous news tidbits concerning “Chinamen,” none of them terribly flattering.
