Vol. VIII—No. 397. 16 pp. [497-512], with four columns, numerous stories, illustrations and cartoons. Front cover features a poignant poem, and an illustration of “The Mower in Ohio”—recording thoughts of farmer in the field, ruminating of his three Union sons, one killed in Tennessee, another at Gettysburg, with a third now with Grant’s forces in Virginia. Other illustrations include four from the Atlanta Campaign—“View of Kennesaw Mountain, From Little Kennesaw”, “Sherman’s Advance--Little Kennesaw, July 1864”, “View of the Public Square, Marietta, GA”, “Gallant Action of Colonel Walcott’s Brigade, June 15, 1864.” Also a center-fold, panoramic collage of scenes from General Grant’s Campaign “In the trenches before Petersburg.”
Exhibits old tape repair along left margin. Has a good deal of chipping and small tears along the edges, particularly the right edge. Does not greatly affect the printed content. Excellent illustrations, solid collectible. [jp/ld] [ph:L]
