This is the Model 1949 FN Belgium manufactured bayonet for Egypt. The letters "F.N." stand for Fabrique Nationale.

Overall, the bayonet meas. approx. 15.00 inches long while the blade itself measures a bit over 8.50 inches. It is double edged with a Parkerized blue finish in excellent condition. Approx. 90% of the original finish remains. Each side of the blade has rub marks along its length from being drawn in and out of the scabbard. Both edges are free of nicks. Point is very slightly blunted. Blade is unmarked.

Wood grips have light to moderate wear and are tight. Locking mechanism at the top of the iron pommel works properly.

Scabbard has some very slight dents but looks to have been heavily cleaned. Frog stud is present just below the throat. Scabbard finial is round.    [ad] [ph:m]
