This is an original Model 1855 socket bayonet for Civil War era Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall. This specimen features a smooth metal surface with a mix of semi-bright and dark patches; some small areas of light pitting. Complete with working locking ring and screw. Large “US” stamped on blade flat. Some light “hammering” to front and back edges of the socket. [jet] [ph:L]
