This bayonet was originally made in 1906 and was 20.00 inches long but was cut down for World War Two. It is easily recognizable as a cut down blade by the fact that the central fuller runs through the point. Also, the date of manufacture makes it obvious.
The blade is marked at the ricasso on one side with “R.I.A.” over a bursting bomb over “1906” and on the other with “U.S.” The length of the blade is now 9.50 inches and its surface is in excellent condition
Grip is black Bakelite type material that is in good condition with no cracks.
Green fiberglass scabbard has white metal throat with ordnance bomb insignia with “US” at center. Hanger for attaching to the belt is present on reverse. [ad] [ph:L]
