This bayonet would have been issued with the M1835 flintlock or possibly a conversion musket. The M1835 flintlock was the last pattern flintlock musket produced by U.S arsenals. The bayonet’s triangular blade measures 18” with a dark brown patina. ‘US’ is stamped on the face flat. The item has a dark brown patina with signs of oxidation. The socket measures 2 ¾” with a ‘zig-zag’ mortise. The socket ring is loose and the screw is missing. [mk] [ph:L]
