US M1835/40 SOCKET BAYONET

$135.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 172-5679

This bayonet would have been issued with the M1835 flintlock or possibly a conversion musket. The M1835 flintlock was the last pattern flintlock musket produced by U.S arsenals.  The bayonet’s triangular blade measures 18” and ‘US’ is stamped on the face flat.  Due to the moderate to severe surface pitting the US stamp is hard to see. The item has a dark brown patina with signs of oxidation in the socket.  The socket measures 2 5/8” with a ‘zig-zag’ mortise.  The socket ring is loose with locking ring intact. [mk] [ph:L]
