The AK47 assault rifle was introduced during an era when the future need for bayonets was unsure. The AK-47 was Russia's post WW2 automatic rifle, designed without the intent to mount a bayonet. In 1955, the Russians designed this bayonet as an afterthought.
Bayonet is 12" long overall with an 8" fullered blade. Simple wood grips. Unmarked.
Stamped steel scabbard has belt loop clip spot welded at throat. Green canvas belt loop with thin leather strap. All in very good condition.
The AK47 bayonet was produced by Bulgaria, China, East Germany, Indonesia, North Korea, Poland, and Russia. [jet] [ph:L]
