The bayonet is bright with few marks of discoloration on the blade. There are minor signs of oxidation on the socket. There is a clear stamp ‘U.S’ on the face flat. The blade measures 18” and the socket is just shy of 2 ¾”. Locking ring works, and moves smooth and secure. It retains the original screw in good condition. Typical of this model bayonet is a ‘zig zag’ mortise, which is also present on this item.
Good addition for any collector looking for earlier accoutrement pieces. [MK] [ph:L]
