This is an original Model 1855 socket bayonet for Civil War era Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall. This specimen features a smooth metal surface with a mix of semi-bright and spotty patches. Some patches of very fine pitting on the socket. Complete with working locking ring and screw. Large “US” stamped on blade flat. A clean and very nice bayonet. [jet] [ph:L]
