This bayonet would have been issued with the M1835 flintlock or possibly a conversion musket. The M1835 flintlock was the last pattern flintlock musket produced by U.S arsenals.  The bayonet’s triangular blade measures 17 ½ ”. ‘US’ is stamped on the face flat.  Overall, the item is bright with mottling.  There is significant pitting on the elbow and base of the socket.  The socket measures 2 ¾” with a ‘zig-zag’ mortise.  The socket ring is loose and original screw is intact.  [mk] [ph:L]
