This is a very nice WWI bayonet made by Remington Arms Company originally for the British Army. The blade was first marked 1913 and with English proof marks. However, when the United States entered the war, the need for equipment was such that this was kept for the American army. The English marks were crossed out and US proofs and a new 1917 date stamped on the blade. Condition is excellent.
The scabbard is also in very good shape, with intact leather, and most of the original green paint. The stitching remains strong and unbroken. Throat and tip securely attached. The scabbard is the American version with the pistol belt hanger. [jet] [ph:L]
