The blade is semi-bright with moderate scattered mottling and no pitting. The blade meas. approx. 21.75 inches long with a wide central fuller running approx. 15.00 inches. The edge is good but for one large nick. One side of the ricasso is blank while the opposite side is stamped “US.”
The hilt is cast brass with a ribbed handle and a “bird-head” pommel. The cross-guard has the socket for passing over the barrel of the weapon and the top of the handle has the channel for attaching to a bayonet stud. Locking mechanism works. [ad][ph:L]
