Saber-style bayonet for the Sharps Rifle. The overall length of this bayonet is 26.75” while the graceful-looking, slightly curved blade itself is 21.75” long. Bayonet was primarily intended for issue to the Federal infantryman. The brass ribbed grip remains clean and semi-bright with light wear and just a few small nicks. Locking spring and button are present and work well. No serial number.
Blade has a light gray color and smooth surface. Ricasso has a light stamp of “1861” on the one side with the Ames stamp is on the other side.
The leather scabbard is in good condition with one weak creased spot in the middle. Brass throat and tip remain tacked in place. Sewn seam on the back is complete and unbroken.
A nice clean bayonet and scabbard for your Sharps rifle. [jet][ph:L]
