This is an original socket bayonet for the Austrian M1854 “Lorenz” rifle musket, with its distinct four-sided blade and diagonal mortise slot in the socket.
Bayonet attached to the Austrian Lorenz rifle muzzle at the front sight. Measures 22” overall with a 3 ¼” socket. Locking ring moves freely. A recessed “star” proof mark and a few numbers stamped on the “elbow”. Light gray appearance overall.
Accompanying scabbard is in near perfect condition. Black leather covered with metal tip, throat, and hook. [jet][ph:L]
