Item meas. approx. 28.75 inches overall. The blade meas. approx. 23.75 inches long and is approx. 1.08 inches wide at the ricasso. Blade surface is bright with some scattered mottling. Heavier near the ricasso. Very little pitting. The pitting that is present is light and again, in the area of the ricasso. The last 10.50 inches of the blade is double edged. The back of the blade is somewhat rounded and raised. This back follows a straight line all the way through to the point. The true edge has some 3or 4 very, very tiny nicks. The grips are checkered the counterguard is heavy cast brass with quillon on one end and barrel ring on the other. Hilt has brass “bird head” shaped pommel cap with bayonet lug channel and iron locking mechanism. Lug channel is a little narrow and locking mechanism is broken. All brass surfaces are dark.
