This British-made accoutrement is an original saber bayonet made for the two-band Enfield .577 caliber musket longarm. Bayonet blade measures 28” overall and has a 22.75” long steel blade with a single 15” long fuller on each flat. All iron is a mottled brown and light gray patina overall with scattered patches of very light surface oxidation. Blade has no visible markings.
Cross guard measures 4.25”. Quillions at bottom and atop muzzle ring facing forward. Grips are checkered black leather. Grips are complete, show only light wear, and no shrinkage. Has “bird’s head” shaped pommel. Locking spring remains in place and works.
