This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets.  Measures approximately 21” overall.  This specimen features a bright overall surface with no blemishes. Complete with locking ring and screw.  Strong “U * S” is stamped on blade flat, denoting the Amoskeag manufacture. In very fine overall condition.

Original black bridle leather scabbard with buff leather frog. The body is in solid condition with virtually no scuffing. The stitched seam is complete and unbroken. Brass scabbard tip attached with four tacks. Arched buff leather frog is in fine condition. The frog is the seven rivet style and was sewn and rivetted to the scabbard. The frog is unstamped.
