This is the Krag – Jorgensen bayonet used on the model 1892 Krag rifle.

The blade is bright and clean. It measures approximately 11.5” inches long with a central fuller that is approximately 8” long. The ricasso is marked “US” on one side and “1902” on the other. Edge is free of any nicks. Overall, the blade is very good.

The hilt has a bird head iron pommel and a flat iron guard with “o” ring. The wood grips are in good condition with minimal wear. Mortise and button attachment work well. Hilt is in overall nice condition.

The steel scabbard is the Type 2 introduced in 1895 and remains in excellent condition.  No damage or wear are noted and much of the original, blued finish is retained.

An ideal example for the discerning collector.   [cm] [ph:L]
