Saber-style bayonet for the Sharps Rifle. The overall length of this bayonet is 24.75” while the graceful-looking, slightly curved blade itself is 20” long. Blade surface is speckled with dark oxidation and light surface pitting. Extremely worn (only partially and faintly visible with loop) stamps of “1861” on the one side and “COLLINS & CO / HARTFORD / CONN” on the other side; with top line in an arc.
The brass ribbed grip wears a mellow, even patina. Locking spring is present while the button is missing. No mating numbers are seen on the grip. [jet][ph:L]
