Very attractive bright and clean English dagger made in Sheffield, England by William Rogers Company.
Dagger is 10.50 inches in overall length and in style is reminiscent of the commando dagger, also made by Rodgers, which became famous during World War Two. The blade is double edged with a spear point. Its surface is bright and clean with some minor rub marks. Both edges are free of nicks. One ricasso is stamped with “WILLIAM RODGERS” while the other is marked “SHEFFIELD ENGLAND.”
Guard is elliptical. Grip is made of stacked black leather with brass inlays between each layer. Pommel is bright. All is in excellent condition.
Sheath is made of a thin brown leather and is sewn and riveted. Frog is attached and marked “MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND.” Leather surface shows light wear. The grip of the dagger is held to the leather frog by two leather straps which snap together. [ad] [ph:m]
