The overall length of the drawn knife is 15.00 inches from point to pommel.
The blade itself meas. approx. 10.25 inches long. Surface is smooth and the blade does not have a fuller. The edge is clean and free of nicks. Markings on each side of the ricasso are worn. One side is marked “US MOD...” and the other has “…UIS” over “1918.”
Handle has wood grips anchored by two screws. Iron pommel is bird head shaped. Iron cross guard has a hole for latch mechanism which is now gone.
The scabbard is made of wood covered in animal skin housed within a khaki canvas body with a leather tip and a brass throat. Scabbard is in very nice shape. The canvas body has a name lightly stenciled on one side while the leather tip is stamped with “A-K-CO. 1918 R.H.S.” Reverse of the scabbard has brass hooks for attaching to a web belt. [sr][ph:L]
