Item Code: 2020-657

This item is a home-made garden hoe constructed of a 40” long, round wood handle and a Civil War bayonet.  The relic bayonet was significantly altered to its present form to use as a simple garden hoe. Most of the blade was removed leaving about 3” that was flattened out. The “bridge” protruding from the rear of the socket was also removed.

The whole piece (wood and iron) shows many years of age and wear.  Reportedly from the Antietam, Maryland area.

Literally a sword that was beat into a plow!   [jet]
