An absolutely gorgeous British Pattern 1821 Officer of infantry sword manufactured prior to 1845. Minty 27-inch pipe back blade etched with the crown over "VR". Original leather and brass mounted scabbard. Both hilt and scabbard have 90% of the original gilt. Grips are fish skin and 100% intact. Black patten leather lining extant in the guard. Original, perfect, white buff sword knot hangs from the hilt. This is the sword that was carried in the Crimean War, and many were actually exported to the Confederacy during the Civil War. Rare for condition and the early pipe back blade. [PE] ph:L]
