French import by Klingenthal. These are actually less encountered than the sabers from Solingen. Brass guard is in good condition with nice patina and traces of gilt. Sharkskin wrap and wire are complete and in good condition as well.
Blade has strong etch and starting to turn gray with some staining. The etching on the obverse is fan foliate / stand of arms / foliate - stand of arms - foliate. Obverse ricasso has armory proof marks of B under crown and S in shield. Reverse etch is fan foliate / foliate / foliate - stand of arms / foliate/. Spine is etched with hash marks and dry needles engraved with Klingenthal name.
Steel scabbard has a great plum brown patina. Brass throat, mounts and drag are all scallop cut and have a great attic patina as well. [ph:L]
