Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 88-163

This French made brass handled sword was brought home from the Mexican War in 1848 by a soldier of the Palmetto Regiment. It is not typical of the French model "ANXI" in that it has a long blade of 28 inches with an 8-inch false edge and a "clipped" point. It is engraved on the spine: " Manufre de Klingenthal Coulaux Freres". The blade is mottled gray with some pitting at the tip. The one-piece brass grip has a beautiful plum brown patina. It is otherwise unmarked. This is a variation of the infantry sword imported by the thousands by Santa Anna between 1823 and 1843. [pe] [ph:L]
