This fine condition briquet or infantry hanger resembles in many ways the classic Napoleonic Year XI model but the fact it is totally unmarked and never was marked makes it possibly a Prussian Model of 1818. The overall length is 29 inches. the blade is 23 inches long and is 1 1/2 wide at the hilt, additionally it has a 6-inch-long false edge. The blade is in very nice condition with blemishing but no pitting. The solid cast 1-piece brass grip is 6 inches long and has a mellow patina. Be aware this sword we are calling Prussian could be rather from a host of Continental European nations that chose to emulate and arm their infantry with the "iconic" French model. It could range in years from 1815-1840 based on its overall look. These were used by Santa Anna's infantry to put down the Texas Rebellion of 1835-36. A classic edged weapon. [pe][ph:L]
