This is the iron swivel and snap hook that was on the carbine shoulder belt. They attached to all carbines via a sliding ring found on the left side of all military carbines. Overall length is 8 ½” long. On the inside of the snap hook portion the maker’s information is stamped, “O.B. NORTH & CO. / NEW HAVEN – CT”. In nice, semi-bright condition with only minor spotting of darker patina.
This is a nice example of an item every cavalry trooper used. [jet][ph:L]
