An original full package of .36 caliber paper cartridges in excellent condition. “For Remington’s, Colt’s, & other Navy or Belt Pistols.” The cartridges are sealed in a pasteboard box that is covered with a pre-printed label. The labeled box was then varnished to make it weatherproof. A perfect specimen.
These cartridges were made by H.W. Mason of South Coventry, Connecticut who was in business from 1865 to 1888. Mason found a business opportunity in continuing to supply combustible cartridges to people who retained their old “cap and ball” weapons in a time when the arms industry was turning to metallic cartridge guns.
