This is an original .32-40 Bullard box with its salmon-colored label by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company. All ten cartridges remain well-wrapped inside.

Box shows light wear and soiling but remains in very good condition. Salmon color on label is light. Label runs over onto the right side of box. Corners had been reinforced with old masking tape.

The ten cartridges feature a tapered case and long neck and a .32 bullet. The centerfire cartridges are unmarked. Cartridges are completely wrapped in thin packing paper.

James H. Bullard was granted a patent for his repeating rifle August 16th, 1881 and began production as J. H. Bullard & Company in early 1882, manufacturing both repeating and single shot rifles. In May 1882, the company name was changed to the Bullard Arms Association, then in October 1883 it was changed again to the Bullard Repeating Arms Company. In January 1891, the company went out of business.

The Union Metallic Cartridge Company began listing Bullard cartridges in their 1883 catalogs. Bullard cartridges were no longer listed by UMC after their 1909 catalog.

A rare original full pack of cartridges.  [jet] [ph:L]
