Unusual tear-drop shaped bullet with “tie ring” at the base. A sprue is often visible on base of these bullets when encountered separately. These St. Louis Arsenal cartridges have been mistakenly attributed to “Remington” and “Leech & Rigdon” by collectors in the past.
Cartridge is of untreated paper tied to the bullet and closed with the usual regulation folds that create the tail. Reference: MM #99, RB-3 #728, TT #38A. [jet] [ph:L]
