Brass scissor-type mold to cast a lead Enfield pattern bullet. Single cavity mold with front-side spout. The number “24” is stamped on the right side of the mold block. This represents .58 caliber, or “24 to the pound”.
This mold is also marked “JG” on the handle for the London maker, “John Greenfield”. Iron base plug is a reproduction. All brass has a nice, dark patina. These “side-cast” molds are fairly scarce. [jet] [ph:L]
