Offered here is a cartridge for the .54 caliber Merrill carbine. This has the typical Merrill bullet with solid base, three grooves, and pointy nose. The cartridge was made of untreated paper and simply pasted to the bullet.
This variation was made with red cartridge paper and is attributed to the St. Louis Arsenal.
Condition is good with some small repaired cracks to the cartridge paper.
