A nice revolver cartridge as made by Eley Brothers in London. These smaller cartridges were used in English and American revolvers throughout the Civil War. These were made in three sizes, 110, 90, and 60 bore, which correspond approximately to .31, .36 and .44 caliber, respectively.
This cartridge is packed in a protective paper case with a bright orange label on the bottom marked “ELEY'S / LONDON”, although printed slightly off center. A brown cloth strip is to tear open the outer paper case to expose the cartridge. Paper case has a split down one side.
The cartridge has a conical lead bullet that measures 0.34” in diameter. “Skin” powder case of mutton’s intestine tied to the bullet with thread. Very good condition. [jet][ph:jet]
